Product Design & Launch | K12 Coalition

THE WHY

Lavinia Group as part of K12 Coalition is constantly iterating and improving upon its curriculum products, with an incredibly experienced team. They set out to create a new curriculum product for grades K-8 that focused first on K-5 and the foundations of reading. Lavinia Group partnered with an outside vendor to create new product branding (and its own identity) that had to be applied to all of the newly drafted curriculum materials. Due to the vast scope of the curriculum products themselves, we worked with both external and partners and internal teams to accomplish this task. Since I have always loved design, I volunteered my time to support and was tasked with the design of all of the classroom materials (posters, desk strips, sight word cards, etc.). Additionally, I was tasked with the management of the internal team's deliverables, which totaled over 10,000 pages of content, including many slide decks.

THE HOW

I built a tracking system to manage the scope: a shared spreadsheet covering the who, what, when, where, and how of every stage, accessible to all stakeholders so anyone could check status without a status meeting. We kept a regular cadence of check-ins to prevent roadblocks, but the tracking system did most of the work of keeping over 10,000 pages of content, including dozens of slide decks, moving on schedule. My background in Adobe Suite let me make real-time changes on request without routing back through other designers, which kept the classroom materials on schedule and on brand under a tight deadline.

THE RESULT

Delivered the full 10,000+ page suite of classroom materials on schedule and on brand, with zero missed deadlines despite a fixed launch date and no existing process to work from. The curriculum is now in active classroom use and generating over $2M in ARR.
